October Wedding (a 2nd commission) - sold

10"x8" oil on Belgian linen mounted on archival panel

"Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be."

- Robert Browning

Yes, it's been a few days since I've posted here on this blog. I've been working on a few things this week, including this commission piece- quite similar to one I finished this past November. It is for the same family, but a different family member! I'm so happy and grateful to help my collectors commemorate the big events in their lives in a very special way. Please contact me here if you'd like to find out more about commissioning a painting for a special event in your or a loved ones life

I also have begun framing new works to take to London Square Gallery in Norfolk, VA; where I'll be doing a demonstration of my palette knife work on Saturday, April 30th. If you're in town, I'd love to have you stop in to visit! More information on tomorrow's blog post (or sign up for my Cheer Factor email newsletter here.)

October Wedding - sold

10"x8" oil on Belgian linen mounted on archival board

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
-Eleanor Roosevelt

I have had the sweet blessing of painting a wedding portrait of a daughter and son-in-law of one of my collectors. It is such a privilege to take part in someone's life this way. I feel like I've been allowed to get to know the family after going through wedding photos- what a beautiful, exciting, and special celebration the whole event is. It is truly a joy to get commissions like this and even in this small way, take part in the happy occasion. "October Wedding" is a 10"x8" oil on Belgian linen mounted on archival board.

This painting is already sold, to see other available paintings & purchase information, please visit my DailyPainters.com gallery store.

Connecticut Gold Rush

12"x16" oil on linen mounted on archival board

"Autumn carries more gold in its hand than all the other seasons."
- Jim Bishop

There is nothing like a back-lit tree in autumn...with the sun high in the sky, illuminating all those colorful leaves, making it appear as though they are aflame! A single corridor of strong sun light cuts through between the house and tree-line spot-lighting the golden leaves among the tree-top as well as those that have already fallen! At this time of year, long shadows spread far, reaching across field, lawn, and farmhouse lane. There is a crisp deep chill in the air, yet the sun is warm (thank goodness).

This is where I went to paint last Wednesday (before the rain rolled in on Thursday and Friday), down in the town of Chester, on Straits Road. My intentions for the day were to push myself and paint a little larger than I normally do for a morning of painting outdoors. I'm calling this one "Connecticut Gold Rush" and it's a 12"x16" oil on linen mounted on archival board. I'm hoping the leaves hold on for just a little longer, although it is getting cold out there....even in the sun-shine.

I'm currently working on a large floral, and am preparing sketches for 2 commissions I'm thrilled to get started on! It's going to be a great week! Please contact me for more information about this painting! roxannesteed@gmail.com

Take The Long Way Home

5"x7" oil on gessoed masonite artboard

"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort."
- Herm Albright

Finally home from my travels, there were still colorful leaves on the trees. They have hastened their fall and are almost gone. I wanted to get a couple fall scenes painted before the rest of the leaves were down.

Get off the interstate....pass by those wonderful Cape style homes painted that "New England" red...somewhere a long a curvy winding road...."Take The Long Way Home" comes to mind on long road trips. Yep, I've had a few of those lately! This painting is 5"x7" and is painted in oils on gessoed masonite artboard. I'm offering my 'while it is wet' price of $125 plus $10 for shipping/insurance. Contact me at roxannesteed@gmail.com for more information.

Turning Into Autumn

8"x10" oil on Belgian linen mounted on archival board

"Listen! The wind is rising, and the air is wild with leaves,
We have had our summer evenings, now for October eves!
- Humbert Wolfe

Today I took the time to go over to Harkness Park and paint outdoors - on our first sunny day this week. The trees are turning, the wind was up a bit, but the air was so clear- you could see forever across the Long Island Sound. But I painted at the cove, the tidal flow making ripples across the water. The grasses are beginning to turn gold, and the trees have their yellows and reds, too! What a beautiful morning! I'm calling this 8"x10" painting "Turning Into Autumn".
