Monday afternoon I came back inside to paint another cheery bouquet. These yellow daisies and purple statice flowers have lasted so long! It's such fun to change the colored cloths around with each arrangement, looking for every subtle color influence, cast shadows, reflections, all interesting to the eye. I chose the name "Chasing The Sun" since I have a feeling we're going to be doing that this week here in coastal Connecticut. The good thing is, all these April showers are going to make for a fabulous May!

When I went to look up some thoughts on the word 'bountiful', I found it fascinating to come across the quotes of these three.

You bring your 'gifts' to the world each and every day, no matter what your calling is, artist, scientist, attorney, homemaker, engineer, teacher, etc.

You are the 'bountiful' in the lives of others. Wishing you a day filled with beauty.

Spring In Your Step

I got my first shoe-full of rain today, leaving the gym. It was monsoon-like weather, except colder, but to me it did feel like Spring is trying its hardest to show up for me. Lots of melt-off happening, fast-running water every where! Maybe just the thought of it has put a spring in my step? Sometimes it doesn't take much....a small cheery bouquet, a bit of hope, the promise of turning that corner at some point.

Sundance To Spring

This quote made me laugh. Is it the wishing for Spring that makes me so restless? I've been on a de-cluttering kick the last several days. I wonder if that is just part of wanting the 'newness' of Spring to be here, or if it's just good to "clear the house - clear the head" kind of thing. Which I think works, as I finished the painting I started the day before!

Looks like March is going to come in "like a lion". They're calling for wind gusts of 50mph, with rain and there's likely to be lots of snow melt-off. Crossing my fingers that there's no flooding around here!

Bring your own sunshine...hmm. The thought of canning it up into nice little jars, so you can open the lid and have sunshine any dark day of winter is quite appealing. Of course that's not what the quote intends, we must carry it inside us and then share it - to spread the sunshine! I think I'll be carrying this visual of a little jar of preserves of sunshine, just the thought of it makes me smile all winter long. When you need some light in the winter, bring in some of what you love from summer. I'm thinking flowers, bright colors, strong light! "Sunshine State Of Mind" makes me feel that way- life is good again, no matter what the weather is doing out there. This was one of those paintings that just made me smile from the inside out as I worked on it, and continued to look at it! I do feel happy just basking in it's glow!
