Seckle Pears on a Blue Asian Plate - sold

11"x14" oil on oil primed Belgian linen

Today's painting, "Seckle Pears on a Blue Asian Plate" was inspired by one of my favorite American Impressionist painters, Childe Hassam. I was at the grocery store Friday (between storms) and these pears were so beautiful! They were just begging to be painted. What an icy, nasty day outside today, with the wind howling loud as a hurricane. It was good to be inside, with the fire in the fireplace, everyone at home, pot roast in the oven, and painting going on!

Beautiful use of colours, particularly in the way the background plays with the fruit.
