Dune Grasses of Assateague

6"x6" oil on gessoed masonite artboard

Good morning, it's Wednesday already!

"The purpose of painting is to lift the veil of mystery into consciousness."
- Henry Hensche

Today's painting is called "Dune Grasses of Assateague", 6"x6" oil on masonite artboard. I've been working on some color studies for a larger painting. Chincoteague, VA & Assateague National Wildlife Refuge is a favorite place of mine to go visit. Sometimes you'll notice various colors in the grasses, blooming plants (weeds or wildflowers?). I always find it exciting to put these views into a painted interpretation!
